The University of Edinburgh has a long history of competitive success in karate. As British University champions seven of the last twelve years, and Scottish University champions 20 times since 1999, we undoubtedly have one of the strongest records in British University karate in 2023.

Novices and seniors alike have the opportunity to represent their University and win medals at the national SSS and BUCS karate championships. Competing can reap many rewards (not least the shiny bling you're fighting for!) and the trips away from Edinburgh are always great fun.

We offer four dedicated sport karate sessions led by our Captains and coaches - one for kata, one for kumite and one general session for open practice.

We also have a dedicated Fitness Captain to lead circuits sessions to keep us fit and ready to fight.

As part of the University of Edinburgh's Team Performance Programme (TPP) we also offer weekly supervised sessions in the University's performance gym for committed athletes. Please speak to one of our Captains to learn more about the TPP - both Seniors and Novices are welcome!

Come and win some medals for us!!
