Membership details:

Your membership includes a license for either JKAWFS (Shotokan) or KKD (Shukokai) - the Membership and Licensing Officer will speak with you to discuss this.

If you are a beginner to karate then don't worry about which license to choose straight away. However, if you are still not sure what they're all about after a few weeks please do ask someone on the committee!

If you currently hold a license through another karate club then please make this known to the Licensing Officer.

A small number of our members may be interested in regularly training with both styles - please speak to the Licensing Officer if this is of interest to you, as both types of license will be required. Members may train at most twice a month with a style they do not possess the license for - signing in at each session they attend.

Non-students and students not at the University of Edinburgh should apply for membership before purchase as we are limited by a non-UoE student quota.

Non-UoE Student Policy

All Sports Union clubs are allocated a non-UoE student quota and so in some years we unfortunately may not be able to accept all non-students.

Please note that as with all EUSU clubs using their facilities, you will also need to purchase both a Sports Union membership and a Peak Gym Membership. Even if you do not intend to use the gym, a Peak Gym Membership is essential as it pays for our facility hire fees for the academic year. Please make sure that you purchase a peak membership.
